  • September 2009 Annual General Managers' Meeting This past September 9-11th, the GMs convened in Raleigh for the Alliance 2009 Annual General Managers’ Meeting — to highlight their achievements, discuss their challenges, and to put new faces to names The theme for this year’s conference became a company mantra, first proposed by Chairman Rolf Tweeten: "We cannot control the wind, so we need to adjust the sails." As Tweeten expounded, we must go forth despite the economy, and weather the high seas with a positive outlook. That positive outlook in 2009 meant investing in the General Managers, flying each of them to the Home Office to participate in a conference where strategies could be shared, and morale boosted.  Boosting focus, in one instance, took shape when President Joe Smith had each of the managers chant over and over, "GOP" and "NOI". Not just an exercise in lung power, this was the President’s way of instilling a single-focus on the strategies that will make Alliance Hospitality Management most successful. Another morale booster was that the size of the Hilton Garden Inn at RDU could barely contain the crowds generated by this year’s meeting. A mixed blessing of sorts, participants noted that only a growing, successful company such as Alliance could face the predicament of outgrowing its normal meeting space! With this year’s conference now over, each General Manager has returned home with new tools for continued growth and success, as well as renewed enthusiasm for the challenges at hand. The management at Alliance would like to thank each member of the team for participating, and it hopes that everyone there will be equally excited to meet up again in 2010!
